Christmas Greetings

It's Christmas time and I just thought of bringing back the old times - when my father used to ask us to make several Christmas poems/greetings to aunts and uncles and business partners on Christmas break. And after me and my sister submitted our rough drafts, he'd pick a few, suggest and edit some of our works. Too bad we didn't compile them ... for recycling purposes haha! Those were the days when there were no text messages flooding your inbox during Christmas and New Year. Anyway, this got me thinking on writing some greeting cards again and this time, why not write them down so that someday, I'd laugh while I read them.

Christmas 2012 - 001

There’s something about December with the Christmas lights all bright
That brings us back to the simpler times of greeting cards, hot choco and carols all night.
There’s something about December that makes you remember the ‘then and now’
When we’d all eat and laugh as much as our tummies would allow.
There’s something about December with fond memories of you
Just makes you cherish times spent with friends who are true.
In old and new times, in good and in bad, in the past, present and on to the future,
Merry Christmas to our dear friend!

Christmas 2012 - 002

Christmas is for everyone
Not just the young, not just the few
It is for the sick and the street children,
The divorcee and the orphaned,
Who battled and struggled all year through
It is for people like us
Who may have fallen and yet took courage to rise
The 'Us' who believe
that a life in Christ will bring the world to light.

Christmas 2012 - 003

Merry are the children whose presents await
To be opened just the night before Christmas day
Merry are the grannies who earnestly prepare
The sumptuous meal for everyone to share
Merry are the mommies who secretly crawl
Just to fill the Christmas stockings hanging on the wall
Merry are the dads who excitedly light
The fireworks display to brighten up the night
Merry it shall be
For the whole family
For Christmas is near
And soon, a happier New Year!

Christmas 2012 - 004

The year has come to a close
and a time to do a little toast

To the choices we've made
and the challenges we've faced

To the new beginnings
and to our past and future learnings

To the lives we've nurtured

and the coming successful future
To the more important things,
like happiness, health and peace
Cheers to us!

Gratefully and joyfully,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
From us, your _____ family.

SOON!
